Drinking in Reviews and ECR Slush

Dear Thrill Seekers,

Thank you for your interests in ECR. This open submission period of roughly 30 days saw close to one hundred and twenty submissions. As Editor-in-Chief, I have read and responded to about sixty submissions. Some I have liked a great deal but think they could be approved upon while offering notes. Others received the form rejection. I wish I could remember to copy and paste those into the emails, but sadly I type every letter of every response regardless of outcome. I believe that your time is as valuable as mine and since we don’t pay very much–reading your work word for word and responding is the only way of giving something back.

For those of you still waiting to hear about your work I want you to know that I know you are still waiting. I am trying to read at least two stories a day on top of my personal writing. There are only 3 spots available in Issue 6 but there’s a lot of stuff I’d like to pick up for issue 7.

As far as reviews for ECR go…I am thrilled to receive any amount of stars and will use your review good or bad as a way of building the brand. There has been some complaints about our Quality Cheap Thrills. Mostly with my editing skills. I agree whole heart and lung. But I would like to point out ECR publishes Quality Cheap Thrills. Just like our Pulp Forefathers before us. On the surface it should look like quality. Inside the words should come across as cheap. Inside the reader it should build thrills. I believe that we are achieving these three things each time we publish an issue. I’ve read some pretty big name books from the big five riddled with grammar issues. So I believe I am in good company. ECR is a one man band. Sorry Duane you help too.

As some of you have noticed I am not currently checking my social media at the moment. I am drafting four separate novels at the moment as I try to transition into the next phase of my writing career. Full disclosure, ECR has made a few brief appearances since June 1st, but only to help spread the good word about our friends up coming projects. I have limited time to work and want you all to know that I am using each minute towards this literary endeavor. My beautiful wife is earning marriage capital with some compound interests that I am sure will result in a very long Honey Do list for the remainder of my life.

So anyways have a good summer! Read-Write-Repeat! If you wanna drop us a line please do…we will read it soon. If you’d like to write a review please do so. Read-Write-Repeat!

Cheers,
J.D.
